Weather Conditions during the Santa Ana (2000) -
A strong Santa Ana windstorm developed in December 2000 as a high-pressure system strengthened over the Great Basin. Note that as the high develops over the Great Basin, winds are from the northeast in southern California. The winds reached over 100 mph in Freemont Canyon.
