Wave Cloud Over the Western Plains -
A wave cloud developed east of the Rocky Mountains on 8 January 2002. The western edge of the cloud does not change location throughout the animation. The cloud forms in the ascending branch of a wave created by the mountains. The clear region west of the wave cloud indicates descending air.
