Wind Parallel Snowbands
- An animation of Doppler radar imagery from early winter 1995 shows wind-parallel rolls developing
along the eastern shore of Lake Michigan. Heavy snowfall is indicated by the high reflectivity (yellow, red).
Note that the region of precipitation does not migrate eastward, but rather remains stationary, allowing several
inches of snow to fall in the same location.
