Online 12.2: The Worst Ice Storm in Canadian History January 1998 Surface conditions from 5 to 10 January 1998:
Animations of temperature, dewpoint temperature, sea level pressure, and 3-hr pressure change illustrate the surface conditions during the ice storm of 1998 that affected southeastern Canada and the extreme northeastern U.S. Note that the surface temperature remains at or just below freezing in these locations during the entire period. Dewpoint temperatures are comparable to temperatures, illustrating high relative humidity, and surface cyclones can been identified in the pressure field developing near the Gulf and migrating northeastward, repeatedly taking the same path.
