300mb Heights & Wind
- A strong trough clearly seen in the 300mb height field resulted in a strong surface low developing
over the southern Plains in late January 2002. A weak jetstreak is present in the eastern branch of the trough
contributing to the divergence and consequent strengthening of the surface low.
