Sea Level Pressure & Surface Temperatures -
The development of the East Coast cyclone is evident in the pressure pattern shown in the sea level
pressure and temperature animation. Low pressure develops along the central Atlantic coast and travels
northeastward toward New England. Temperatures along the coast hovered just at or above freezing, leading
to liquid precipitation in most of the major metropolitan areas. Heavy snow and freezing precipitation fell
further inland where temperatures were below 0° C.
