Climate, Climate Change, and Global Warming

Online 5.1: Evolution of Twenty-first Century Temperatures - Each image in the animation is a map of forecast surface air temperature change (degrees Celsius) over the Northern Hemisphere. The map is centered in the North Pole with North America in the bottom center of the image (continents are outlined in black). The color coding indicates change in surface air temperature (from 1981-2000 averages). Increases in air temperature are indicated by warmer colors (red, orange) and decreases in air temperature by cooler colors (blues). Note that the greatest increases in air temperature are forecast for the polar region and portions of northern Asia.
